Govt set up high-level committee for security of elections

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has established a committee related to security in the general elections.

The notification of the committee set up by the caretaker prime minister for the general elections has been issued. The committee comprised chief secretaries of the four provinces and the home secretary.

The Minister of Communications will be the convener of the committee while committee consists of seven-members.

The committee will oversee the security arrangements for the general elections.

Earlier, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed confidence that a stable government will be formed after the forthcoming general election scheduled for February 8 leading to sustainable economic stability in the country.

“I do see and project that there will be a great growth in Pakistan. There will be a sense of stability. The growth will be slow but it will be sustainable,” the prime minister said in an interview with CNBC on the sidelines of the 54th annual meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF).

He maintained that the speculations regarding holding of the elections had been addressed and everyone was certain about the election date on 8th of February.
