LHC allows Sheikh Rashid to contest the general election

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court(LHC) allowed Awami Muslim League (AML) and former federal minister Sheikh Rashid to contest the general election.

A three-member bench of the Lahore High Court heard the petition filed against Sheikh Rashid’s decision to approve nomination papers.

The petitioner had taken the position that the nomination papers of former minister Sheikh Rashid were approved contrary to the facts, the court should annul the decision of the Appellate Tribunal.

After hearing the arguments of the lawyers of the parties, the court upheld the decision of the Appellate Tribunal and dismissed the appeal against the approval of the nomination papers of Sheikh Rashid from NA-56.

Earlier, Awami Muslim League(AML)  chief and former federal minister has been Sheikh Rashid  from outside of courtroom after his bail was rejected in May 9 case.

Sheikh Rasheed was arrested on bail in the May 9 case. Sheikh Rashid was arrested from the court, a case of attack on the office of a sensitive institution is registered against him.
