PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a contempt of court petition in the Peshawar High Court against the Election Commission of Pakistan on the issue of intra-party elections and for not giving the bat election symbol.

The PHC has scheduled PTI’s contempt of court petition against the Election Commission for hearing tomorrow. The two-member bench of the High Court will hear it.

PTI was viewed that the ECP has not released PTI’s certificate on the website despite the court order. This action falls under the category of contempt of court and pleaded that action should be taken against the Chief Election Commissioner, Secretary Election Commission, and members.

On the other hand, the ECP has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Peshawar High Court against the restoration election symbol of PTI.

In the petition of the Election Commission, it has been requested to annul the decision of the Peshawar High Court and said that the PTI did not conduct the intra-party elections as per the Election Act.
