PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) has decided not to take part in the parliamentary elections.

ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan said that ANP members will not be part of the election process in any assembly and senate.

Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that ANP wants civilian supremacy, democracy and strength of parliament, the party is not in favor of giving vote to anyone in the provincial assemblies and senate in the current situation.

He said that the majority parties offered positions, ANP does not do politics of power or seats. He said  ANP’s principled position is to first take the mandate from the mandate thieves and give it to the real representatives.

Asfandyar Wali Khan said that further decisions regarding the role within the parliament will be made later through consultation.
