Dubai Metro: Avoid these 31 violations or face up to AED 2,000 fine
The Dubai Metro has become a crucial part of the city’s public transportation system, changing how people get around with its speed, reliability, and convenience.
It connects various neighborhoods in Dubai, making travel safer, quicker, and more comfortable for millions of residents and visitors every day.
However, it’s essential to follow the rules when using the Metro to avoid getting fined. These rules help keep everyone safe and ensure the system runs smoothly. Violations such as smoking, littering, or not validating tickets could result in fines of up to AED 2,000.

-Passenger can pay the fine to the inspector who issued it on the spot. When the fine is issued, a passenger receives a notification from Road and Transport Authority (RTA) specifying the fine amount.
-The RTA website has a dedicated portal through which you can pay fines.
-RTA Customer Happiness Centres around the city offer fine paying services as well. All you need is the fine number received from RTA at the time of issuing.
-For bus passengers, fines can be paid through self-service machines.
If you want to challenge a fine given by a Metro inspector, make sure you have all the necessary paperwork.
This includes the fine number mentioned on the notification, the receipt if you paid the fine through the inspector or service centers, a copy of the fine notification form, your Nol card or the card number on the back of it, and for those on visit visas, a copy of the visit visa, entry stamp, and passport. Additionally, include any other documents that can support your appeal.
To dispute the fine, send an email to ask@rta.ae with the subject “Fine appeal” and include the fine number. Attach all required documents to the email.
