Eid Ul Fitr 2024 holidays announced in UAE
As the UAE eagerly awaits the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, residents are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of a substantial six-day holiday.
While the official dates are subject to confirmation through moon sightings, the UAE government has outlined tentative plans for the 2024 Eid al-Fitr holiday period.
Traditionally, Eid al-Fitr holidays span from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 in the Islamic calendar.
If Eid begins on April 10, corresponding to April 9 as Ramadan 29 and April 12 as Shawwal 3 in the Gregorian calendar, residents could enjoy an extended break from April 9 to April 12, with the inclusion of the weekend providing a total of six days off.
For those looking to extend their holiday further, strategic planning could result in an impressive nine-day respite by taking Monday, April 8, off work.
Astronomical projections suggest that Ramadan may commence on March 11, 2024, with Eid al-Fitr likely starting on April 10.
With Ramadan expected to last 30 days in the UAE, employees across the public and private sectors could potentially enjoy a six-day holiday.
Preparations for the Ramadan moon sighting in the UAE are set to begin on March 10. If the moon is sighted on that day, the first fast would commence on March 11, leading to Ramadan starting on March 12.
As excitement builds for the upcoming festivities, residents are also gearing up for the fasting period. Ramadan’s duration in Dubai is estimated to begin at approximately 13 hours and 45 minutes, gradually extending to roughly 14 hours and 25 minutes by its conclusion.
