ISLAMABAD: Federal Government a committee for airport outsourcing and privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Minister of Defence and Aviation and the notification of the formation of the committee has been issued.

According to the notification, the committee will review the outsourcing of airport management and monitor matters related to the privatization of PIA.

The notification states that the committee members will include the Minister of Privatization, Foreign Minister, Secretary Privatization, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission and Secretary Aviation Division.

It should be noted that in the federal cabinet meeting in the past few days, the Prime Minister had directed to speed up the process of privatization of PIA, ensure transparency and form a committee regarding the outsourcing of airports.

Earlier,  Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday held a meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing wherein the latter underlined that China would assist Pakistan in stabilizing its financial situation.

In the meeting held on the sidelines of the First Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels, both sides agreed on the importance of the longstanding cooperation between Pakistan and China in civil nuclear technology.
