LAHORE: The move to place the picture of former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) Nawaz Sharif on newly launched Kissan card was challenged in the Lahore High Court(LHC).

A citizen Mashkoor Hussain filed a petition in the Lahore High Court through his lawyer, in which the Punjab Chief Minister, the Punjab government and Nawaz Sharif have been made parties.

The petitioner took the position that public funds cannot be used for personal publicity and putting Nawaz Sharif’s photo on Kissan card is a violation of law.

The petitioner requested that the Lahore High Court should stop the Punjab government from issuing Kissan cards with Nawaz Sharif’s picture, and that the expenses incurred for placing Nawaz Sharif’s picture on the farmer card should be recovered from Nawaz Sharif.

The petitioner further requested that the Lahore High Court order to stop the printing of Kissan Card till the final decision of the petition.
