LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected the plea for a stay-order on the new schedule of the Election Commission of Pakistan for the reserved seats of the Sunni Ittehad Council.

Justice Chaudhry Iqbal of the Lahore High Court heard the petition of Sahibzada Hamid Raza against not getting reserved seats in the Sunni Ittehad Council, in which the Advocate General Punjab and the petitioner’s lawyer appeared in the court.

During the hearing, the court asked the Advocate General Punjab whether there was a response from the Punjab government to the petition. On this, the Advocate General said that the government should be given time to respond.

In the reply of Advocate General Punjab, the lawyer for the petitioner said that this matter is important and a stay order should be issued against it.

Later, the court gave time to the federal government and the Punjab government to submit a written reply and rejected the plea for an injunction on the new schedule of the Election Commission of Pakistan for reserved seats.
