PESHAWAR – Expect notable rain, snow in hilly areas, and occasional hailstorms in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday evening/night and Wednesday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is expected to move into the western regions of Pakistan by tonight. By Wednesday, it is forecast to affect much of the upper and central parts of the country.

Under these circumstances, expect rain, accompanied by wind or thunderstorms, and snowfall in hilly areas like Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Bajaur, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, and Kurram from Tuesday evening/night through Wednesday. Isolated areas may also experience heavy rainfall or hailstorms during this time.

Heavy rainfall combined with snowfall in certain areas like Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Shangla might lead to road closures on Wednesday and Thursday. Landslides are also a possibility, particularly in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Galyat, due to heavy precipitation. Additionally, wind, thunderstorms, and hailstorms could pose a risk to vulnerable structures such as electric poles and solar panels.

Peshawar is expected to have minimum temperatures ranging from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 10 to 12 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

During the past 24 hours, Peshawar and most areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced cold weather with partly cloudy skies prevailing.
