KARACHI: Eminent Psychiatrist of the country and Founder of Karachi Psychiatric Hospital and leader of the Jamaat-i-Islami Dr Syed Mubeen Akhtar died, here on Tuesday.

His son Dr. Abdul Rehman has confirmed Dr Akhtar’s demise and said that he had been ill for the last some weeks.

He added that the father had a stroke and an infection and he died due to multi-organ failure today.

Dr. Syed Mubin Akhtar, an American returned Diplomat in Psychiatry and Neurology founded KPH in 1970 to provide access to mental health irrespective of financial standing. And since then KPH has been successfully providing world class treatment to cure mental illness.

The Karachi Psychiatric Hospital (KPH) has been catering to the mental health needs of Karachiites in particular and Pakistanis in general (through Skype) for the last 44 years.
