KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab has decided to take important steps to maintain traffic flow in the city.
According to Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, it has been decided to conduct weekly anti-encroachment operation to maintain the flow of traffic in the city.
Mayor Karachi said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will conduct weekly anti-encroachment operation and the operation will start from Saddar, Lighthouse, MA Jinnah Road, Bolton Market, while the operation will also be conducted in II Chandrigar Road, Numaish Chowrangi, Empress Market and Kharadar.
He said that the encroachments will be removed from the cabins, stalls, carts and shops on the road, anti-encroachment operations will continue throughout the week without discrimination in the city.
According to Mayor Karachi, the action will be taken first in South, District East and then District Central, which will be supervised by Senior Director Imran Rajput.
Earlier, Multiple road remained closed until 7 pm due to the visit of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to the port city, causing the worst traffic jam.
The traffic flow on adjoining roads of Shahrah-e-Faisal remained suspended for many hours and commuters worst suffered.
Additionally, mobile phone services experienced disruptions in certain areas of Karachi. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) stated that mobile phone services have been suspended along specific routes in the city during the Iranian president’s visit, in effect from 3:00 pm on April 23 to 8:00 am on April 24, following directives from the Ministry of Interior. This measure aims to ensure the security of the dignitary’s visit.
