Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has announced that they will determine the “optimal window” for the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Naqvi added that the PCB will soon engage in discussions with all relevant stakeholders about the scheduling of PSL 10 to ensure that the tournament does not conflict with international commitments.
“PSL is a brand of Pakistan, which is why it will be given its due importance. Organizing PSL 10 in conjunction with international commitments will pose a challenge, but we are prepared for it,” he stated.
According to sources, the PSL could potentially overlap with the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year.
The PCB is contemplating three possible windows for PSL 2025, with the most ideal one coinciding with the IPL in April and May.
Sources also mentioned that the PCB is weighing the advantages and disadvantages of scheduling the league concurrently with the IPL.
The second window under consideration is a three-week period in February, as the event cannot be held in March due to the ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host. However, this would conflict with the ODI triangular series in Pakistan in February, which includes New Zealand and South Africa.
The third window being considered is around the Asia Cup in September 2025.
Further discussions regarding the scheduling of the PSL next year will occur at the upcoming council meeting.
