LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has recommended to suspend mobile phone and internet service in the by-elections to be held tomorrow.

The Punjab Home Department has written a letter to the Federal Ministry of Interior requesting that mobile phone and internet services be suspended in 13 districts and tehsils of Punjab during the April 21 by-elections.

In the letter, it has been said that mobile phone and internet services should be suspended in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Talagang, Kalar Kahar, Gujarat, Ali Pur Chatha , Bhakkar, Zafarwal, Kot Chutta, Sadiqabad, Dera Ghazi Khan and Chakwal for peace and order.

A copy of the letter has also been sent to Chief Secretary Punjab, IG Punjab, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) , CCPO Lahore, Commissioners concerned and other officers.

Earlier, federal government approved the deployment of Civil Armed Forces(CAF) and Pakistan Army troops in the by-elections.

After the approval of the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Interior issued orders to deploy Civil Armed Forces and Pakistan Army troops.

The Civil Armed Forces and Pakistan Army troops will be used as quick response force. The Civil Armed Forces and Pakistan Army troops will be used as second and third tiers of security.
