In a recent development, Karachi’s Commissioner, Hassan Naqvi, has taken a strong stance against price manipulation in the city’s bread market. Setting official prices for roti and naan, two staple food items in the region, the Commissioner aims to ensure fair pricing and protect consumers from being overcharged.
Under the new regulations, a 120-gram naan will be priced at Rs 17, while a 100-gram chapati (roti) will cost Rs 12. This move is designed to establish transparent pricing and prevent the exploitation of consumers.
Additionally, tandoor owners have been directed to prominently display these prices for the public’s convenience. This measure of transparency is expected to deter any attempts at price violations.
Commissioner Naqvi has issued a stern warning, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against any violators of these new pricing regulations. This decisive action underscores the administration’s commitment to upholding market fairness and safeguarding consumer rights in Karachi.
