Rana Sanaullah designated as Advisor on Political Affairs to PM
ISLAMABAD: Former Interior Minister and senior leader Rana Sanaullah has been appointed...
KARACHI: Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s appointment as Deputy Prime Minister has been challenged in the Sindh High Court (SHC).
Tariq Mansoor Advocate filed a petition in the Sindh High Court in which he took the position that the law does not mention the post of Deputy Prime Minister, therefore the appointment of Ishaq Dar is illegal.
The Federal Cabinet, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Principal Secretary of the Presidency and others have been made parties in the petition
The petitioner pleaded with the court that the notification of appointment of Ishaq Dar should be declared null and void.
The court fixed the petition for hearing on Friday and Chief Justice Sindh High Court Aqeel Abbasi will hear it with a 2-member bench.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was given the additional charge of deputy prime minister, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
The appointment comes at a time when PM Shehbaz and Dar, along with other ministers, are in Saudi Arabia to attend the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) special meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth and Energy.
Pervaiz Elahi has been the Deputy Prime Minister, but this position is not there in the constitution.
