In a recent high-level meeting chaired by Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Transport & Mass Transit, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Sharjeel Inam Memon, significant strides were discussed regarding the province’s transport infrastructure. The meeting, held on Friday, brought together key officials such as Transport Secretary Asad Zaman and Sindh Mass Transit Authority MD Kamal Hakeem Dayo, highlighting a collective effort to enhance connectivity and convenience for residents across Sindh.
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon underscored the commitment of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari to improve connectivity across the province. The strategic plan aims to establish links between tehsils and district headquarters, ultimately making travel more accessible and convenient for citizens. A pivotal aspect of this initiative is the introduction of new Peoples Bus Service routes connecting Sukkur to Larkana and Sukkur to Khairpur, in line with directives from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto.
The meeting delved into detailed briefings on the progress of various Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects, signal installations, and the reconstruction of bus terminals. An important decision was made to construct a dedicated U-turn specifically for the People’s Bus Service, aimed at streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency. Additionally, plans to address traffic congestion in central areas of Hyderabad were discussed, including the proposal for a new parking plaza.
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon received updates on the completion status of eight bus terminals, with construction now finished and plans to make them operational by June. This achievement represents a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the region’s transport infrastructure, promising improved connectivity and better travel experiences for the people of Sindh.
