In Islamabad, there is anticipation that petrol prices in Pakistan may experience a further reduction starting May 16, driven by a recent easing of inflation following the establishment of a stable federal government.

The government has taken proactive measures to alleviate the burden on the public, and if approved, this would mark the second consecutive decrease in petrol prices within a month.

While the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has not yet submitted a formal summary to the Finance Division, preliminary reports suggest that it is likely to recommend a decrease in petrol and diesel prices for the second half of May 2024.

Experts have pointed out a significant drop in international oil prices, indicating that the government is poised to transfer these benefits to the public in the upcoming pricing review scheduled for May 15.

This potential reduction in petrol prices aligns with ongoing efforts to provide economic relief and stability to the citizens of Pakistan.
