Traditionally, the summer break in Punjab starts in June and continues until August, coinciding with temperatures rising above 40 degrees Celsius. Weather forecasts for May 2024 predict a temperature rise to 39°C, escalating beyond 40°C in June 2024.

According to the Education Minister, the summer vacation is set to begin on June 7, 2024, and end on August 19, 2024. An official communication from the Education Department is anticipated in the coming weeks.

In a prior warning, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) cautioned that the peak temperature could reach 49.5 degrees Celsius in June. Moreover, August might witness temperatures soaring to a high of 48.63 degrees Celsius.
