FIA gets physical remand of Sarim Burney

KARACHI: A local court granted a two day physical remand of ​​social leader Sarim Burney to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over his involvement human trafficking.

Sarim Burney was detained at Karachi Airport yesterday on the charge of human trafficking by the United States.

Later, the FIA ​​Human Trafficking Circle also registered a case against him in which it was stated that Sarim Burney had also admitted his mistake.

Today, FIA officials produced Sarim Burney in the court of Judicial Magistrate East, where Saram Buney’s lawyer requested to discharge the social leader from the case.

Sarim Burney — who runs the Sarim Burney Welfare Trust International was taken into custody after he landed at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi following his visit to the United States.

According to FIA, the social worker was arrested on charges of human trafficking which includes smuggling and illegally sending children to the US after American authorities filed a complaint against him.

He was, as per FIA, accused of trafficking more than 25 children to the US and illegally getting them adopted in the country. He has also been accused of fraud and falsification of documents, said the agency.
