The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave advisory for the plain regions, forecasting a significant rise in temperatures across various regions. It is anticipated that the mercury levels in Sindh will soar to a scorching 47 degrees Celsius today.

In a detailed report, the department has indicated that temperatures in multiple cities within the provinces of Punjab and Sindh are expected to fluctuate between 42 and 46 degrees Celsius. Specifically, Jacobabad and Sukkur are projected to experience peak temperatures of 47 degrees Celsius.

Furthermore, the department’s forecast for other major cities includes a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius in Lahore, 42 degrees Celsius in Peshawar, 40 degrees Celsius in Islamabad, and 38 degrees Celsius in Quetta.

Post the sweltering daytime conditions, there is a forecasted shift in weather patterns. The evening or nighttime may bring winds and potential rainfall across diverse regions, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Additionally, meteorological models suggest the likelihood of precipitation in the form of rain showers in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Rajanpur, Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Swat, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, and Hyderabad.

It is pertinent to note that such extreme weather conditions can have significant impacts on public health and the environment. The populace is advised to take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses. The agricultural sector is also likely to be affected, and relevant authorities may need to take measures to mitigate the adverse effects on crops and livestock.
