PHC stops govt from force eviction of Afghan musicians
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court(PHC) stopped the government from forcibly evicting Afghan musicians.
In Peshawar High Court, the petition of Afghan musicians for political asylum was heard. Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Waqar Ahmed heard the plea.
During the hearing, Justice Ijaz Anwar said that what is his case and What do petitioner want. On which the petitioner’s lawyer said that these are Afghan musicians and they do not have documents, it is requested that these Afghan musicians should not be deported from Pakistan.
Justice Waqar Ahmed asked that you approached the federal government. On which the petitioner’s lawyer said that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR) has submitted an application, which is pending, to allow the Afghan musicians to stay here until the decision on the application is made.
Justice Ijaz Anwar asked that you came from Afghanistan on a visa, do you have your passport, to which the petitioner said that some have visas and some are without visas.
Then Justice Ijaz Anwar asked that you have any problem in Afghanistan? The petitioner said that we are in danger in Afghanistan.
The court restrained the government from forcibly evicting Afghan musicians and ordered that Afghan musicians not be harassed.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case.
