PM strongly condemns killing of senior journalist in Landi Kotal

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the murder of Khalil Jibran, a senior journalist in Landi Kotal city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The prime minister, sympathising with the bereaved family members of the slain journalist, directed the KP chief minister and relevant authorities to arrest the perpetrators and take them to the task.

He reiterated the government’s resolve to take all-out measures to protect the lives and freedom of the media community.

Prime Minister Shehbaz prayed to Allah Almighty for peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur took notice of the incident and ordered authorities concerned to immediate arrest the culprits behind the journalist’s killing.

KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also condemned Jibran’s murder.

The Association of Electronic Media Editors and News Directors (AEMEND) strongly condemned the gruesome murder of the Khyber News’ reporter and demanded the KP chief minister and federal interior minister to bring Jibran’s killers to justice.

Earlier, a senior journalist Khalil Jibran has been killed by unidentified gunmen near his residence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Landi Kotal town.

Jibran, who was associated with a private news channel — Khyber News — was targeted by unidentified miscreants on a motorcycle when he was heading towards his residence with his friend Sajjad Advocate.
