Qureshi to remain in jail despite acquittal in cipher case

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s release is not possible even after his acquittal in the cipher case.

Islamabad High Court acquitted Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher case.

Sources said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s release from Adiala Jail is still not possible despite his acquittal.

Jail sources said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi is already arrested in 8 cases registered in Lahore on May 9 and Lahore Police arrested Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Adiala Jail on May 25.

A five-member investigation team of Lahore’s JIT came to Adiala Jail on May 26. Shah Mehmood was physically remanded by the Lahore court in 8 cases on May 9.

It should be noted that Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi had filed petition against the sentence in the cipher case. The special court had sentenced the two leaders to 10 years in prison.
