In response to these reports, Microsoft has promptly released an official workaround designed to address the concerns of affected customers.

While the solution provided by Microsoft may not be considered elegant, it is expected to effectively resolve the problem for users facing issues with the Photos app in Windows 11.

How to resolve Photos app on Windows 11

1. Restart your PC and check if the Photos app starts working.
2. Check for Windows updates and install any, if required.
3. If you are in the Dev channel, switch to Beta.

If none of these work, follow these steps:

1. Download the latest WinAppSDK and select the appropriate one for your PC.
2. Right-click the windowsappruntimeinstall-x64.exe file and select ‘Run as administrator’. A command prompt window will open and display text as the installation takes place.
3. If you’re an IT administrator, you can execute the installer using either the system or admin option. The installer only needs to be run once per device.

Since this solution is temporary, Microsoft stated that it is working on a permanent fix that will be available soon.
