LHC fixes plea seeking Naqvi’s disqualification from Senate seat for hearing

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court(LHC) has fixed for hearing a petition seeking the disqualification of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi from the Senate seat.

Acting Chief Justice Shujaat Ali Khan will hear the petition with objection on July 1.

The Registrar’s Office objected to the petition that the petitioner was not an aggrieved party.

According to the petitioner Citizen Mashkoor Hussain, Mohsin Naqvi is not eligible to become a senator while holding the post of Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) Chairman.

It is stated in the petition that under Article 63, Mohsin Naqvi cannot continue in the position of senator, it is requested that the court should order the removal of Mohsin Naqvi from the position of senator.

It should be noted that Mohsin Naqvi was elected unopposed as the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board on February 6 this year and he was the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab at that time.
