Lahore, July 9, 2024— The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a new alert for expected monsoon rains across Punjab, set to begin on July 10 and continue until July 15. The PDMA forecasts heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in most districts of the province.

A spokesperson for the PDMA highlighted the risk of urban flooding, particularly in major cities. “Given the danger of urban flooding, the administration of big cities should be on high alert,” the spokesperson advised.

In response to the forecast, the Director General (DG) of PDMA has instructed all districts to complete advance arrangements to mitigate the impact of the impending weather. The DG emphasized the importance of preparedness, stating, “Rescue, WASA, Punjab Police, and Civil Defense are also alerted.”
