Shadab Khan, the Pakistani all-rounder, has been showcasing exceptional bowling skills in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, playing for the Colombo Strikers.

Despite facing significant pressure after failing to secure a wicket in the T20 World Cup, the 25-year-old leg-spinner has regained his form and currently leads the tournament in wickets taken. With an impressive tally of 14 wickets across six matches at an average of 8.64, he achieved his best performance against Jaffna Kings with figures of 4/10, earning his second Player of the Match title.

In a recent match, Shadab was on the verge of claiming a hat-trick after taking out Avishka Fernando and Fabien Allen. The third potential wicket was spared due to a review, but Shadab maintained, “[hat-trick ball?] I think that was out, think it was a technology problem. I think it was out.”

He reflected on the pitch conditions, saying, “I think the pitch was bit slower, but we just had to stick to our plans. The pitch is definitely helping the spinners, especially when bowling in good areas.”

Shadab also commented on his recent struggles and his return to form, “I struggled in the last three months, but that’s the beauty of cricket, suddenly you start performing and hopefully that continues with Pakistan as well.”

It’s noteworthy that Shadab achieved a hat-trick in his LPL debut this month, dismissing Kandy Falcons’ captain Wanindu Hasaranga, Salman Ali Agha, and Pavan Rathnayake, concluding the game with figures of 4/22.
