Three killed, seven other injured IED blast in Mardan

MARDAN: At least three people were killed and seven others were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast near a police van near Jalala bridge in the Takhtbhai area of Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan Zahoor Barbar Afridi confirmed that the IED blast took place near the police mobile in which 8 people were injured.

The rescue operations were started in the area after explosion and the injured were shifted to the hospital where three people died during treatment.

Rescue officials said that medical assistance is being provided to other people injured in the blast.

DPO Mardan said that the explosives were planted on the road side and as soon as the police vehicle passed, there was a loud explosion.

DPO further stated that a search operation was launched after cordoning off the area.
