It is compulsory for all residents and nationals to keep a legal driving license with them while driving vehicles in Dubai and other regions of the UAE as an expired document can land you in trouble.

The traffic department can also execute fines if the driving license is expired.

According to RTA guidelines, residents aged 21 years and above are appropriate to apply for the driving license in Dubai.

Residents younger than 21 years can also apply for a probationary driving license.

The driving license renewal fee is same for Pakistani residents and others in Dubai.

Penalties on Delay Renewal of License

According to RTA, the delay fine (10 AED) is calculated monthly from the finishing date of the license, with a maximum of 500 AED. It is only mandatory to pay the periodic renewal fees and undergo the appraisal test if the license was expired for more than 10 years.

If the license is expired for more than ten years, the candidate will have to pass the driving test again to get evaluated the skills. The service fee for the appraisal test if the license has not been renewed for more than 10 years is following:
