Pakistan registers first MERS Coronavirus case

ISLAMABAD: The first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome(MERS) Coronavirus has been reported and successfully treated in Pakistan.

A Pakistani infected with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus came from Saudi Arabia last month.

Officials said that on September 4, the victim was admitted to a private hospital in Jhelum for heart treatment. The next day, the World Health Organization (WHO)and Saudi authorities reported that the victim was suffering from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus.

Officials also said that the victim was shifted to the ISLAMABAD: The first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus has been reported in Pakistan.

Officials said that on September 4, the victim was admitted to a private hospital in Jhelum for heart treatment. The next day, the World Health Organization and Saudi authorities reported that the victim was suffering from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus.

Officials also said that the victim was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward of Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi and later discharged after successful treatment. more than 40 people who came in contact with the patient were tested and all came back negative.

Officials further said that the victim is residing in his house in Khariyan after recovery.

According to the authorities, the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus disease appeared in 2012, this virus is a disease transmitted from camels to humans, the most 2204 cases of this virus were reported from Saudi Arabia where 862 people have died so far.

Officials further said that the victim is residing in his house in Kharian near Gujrat after recovery.
