15 dead in attack on passenger vans in Kurram

PESHAWAR: Alt least 15 people were killed and several other were injured when armed men opened fire on passenger vehicles in the tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In Kurram district, gunmen opened fire on a convoy of vehicles going from Parachinar to Peshawar at a high point, as a result of which 15 people were killed.

According to the police officials, many people including three women were injured in the firing and were shifted to the hospital.

After the incident, the security authorities have cordoned off the area and started searching for the accused.

As soon as the incident was reported, rescue volunteers and law enforcement agencies reached the spot and started relief operations. On the other hand, the injured persons were immediately shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.

District Police Officer (DOP) and Deputy Commissioner reached the spot.

Spokesperson DPO Ehsanullah said that nothing can be said about the number of casualties at present, there were a large number of passenger vehicles in the caravans.
