FIA arrests two suspects involved in illegal currency exchange
KARACHI: Federal Investigation Agency’s State Bank Circle arrested two suspects including the bank manager involved in illegal currency exchange and recovered thousands of dollars.
FIA State Bank Circle raided the stock exchange parking lot on a tip-off. During the raid, 2 suspects including the manager of the bank established in the stock exchange were arrested.
The FIA said that the team recovered $45,000 from the possession of the accused, the recovered dollars are worth more than Rs 12.5 million.
The spokesman said that the raid was carried out on the instructions of the Director FIA Karachi Zone, the suspects include bank branch manager Faisal and Maysam Raza.
FIA said that the accused were illegally dealing in foreign currency, however, necessary legal action will be taken as per law.
FIA State Bank Circle, on the direction of Director FIA Karachi Zone, had earlier conducted an operation near I.I. Chundrigar Road and then raided the stock exchange car parking lot on the information of a source.
Earlier, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested an accused involved in the Hawala Hundi (illegal currency exchange) and recovered more than 15.9 million.
According to Director FIA Nauman Siddiqui, FIA Cooperative Crime Circle raided two flats in Soldier Bazar in connection with an inquiry registered in Karachi from where accused Shahzad Mohammad Shakir was arrested.
According to the FIA officials, the Hawala Hundi register, mobile phone and other related records and evidence were seized from the possession of the accused.
