Multan tops global pollution ranking

LAHORE: Multan is the most polluted city of the world where the air quality index(AQI) was recorded at 400 on Tuesday.

Similarly, Lahore became the second and Karachi the fourth most polluted cities in the world due to the deteriorating air quality in these two cities.

The air quality of Lahore and Karachi is extremely harmful to health, the air quality index of Lahore was recorded at 236 and Karachi at 199 in the morning, due to which Lahore is the second most polluted city in the world while Karachi is at the fourth place.

Meanwhile, different areas of Punjab are under heavy fog and smog.

Apart from this, there has been a reduction in smog in some cities of Punjab, on which the Punjab government has announced the opening of educational institutions in all districts except Lahore and Multan divisions.

According to the government, schools in Punjab will not open before 8:45 am, while hotels and food outlets in Punjab have been allowed to stay open till 10 pm.
