A TikToker, Annie Niu, has gone viral after revealing she pretended to be her late twin sister for years to protect her elderly grandparents.

Annie, 34, known for her lifestyle and food content, shared that her twin sister passed away from viral meningitis five years ago, a loss her family kept secret out of concern for their grandparents’ fragile health.

In a video that has garnered millions of views, Annie explained, “My father came up with the idea to keep the news to ourselves. He didn’t want to withhold this information, but he also didn’t want to cause them any more heartbreak. God forbid—they are 92, and something happens.”
