Federal Govt to introduce bike-riding police to patrol on motorways

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has decided to launch a pilot project for a motorbike service to enhance security and surveillance on motorways.

It has been decided to start a pilot project of motorbike service for security and surveillance on motorways.

Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan gave the administration the task of increasing patrolling on the motorways and tightening security. Khan stated that there should be 30 to 35 motorbikes patrolling different sectors of the motorway simultaneously.

Abdul Aleem Khan said that in the first phase, the Motorway Police should start the bike service from its own resources, and it will be increased further. He directed that an effective strategy should also be adopted to prevent the theft of safety fence on the motorway.

The Minister of Communications also proposed to amend the legislation for the powers of the Motorway Police. He said that the Motorway Police must take more responsibility for the safety of citizens.
