In the highly controversial Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing case, Mumbai police revealed new developments, making unexpected revelations.

The man accused of attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan during a burglary attempt on January 16 hid in the garden of the Bandra building for two hours after the incident, a police official revealed.

The accused, identified as 30-year-old Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, had changed his name to Vijay Das in an attempt to mislead authorities. Initially, Fakir claimed he was a resident of Kolkata, but police uncovered the truth after securing his school leaving certificate from his brother in Bangladesh. “This document is strong evidence to prove he is a Bangladeshi national,” the official stated.

Following the attack, Fakir sought refuge in the garden of Satguru Sharan, the building where Khan resides, “as he was afraid of getting caught,” said the official. He was arrested from Thane three days later.

After being taken into custody, Fakir initially insisted he was Vijay Das but failed to provide any supporting documents. Police prompted him to call his family, and his brother sent the certificate via mobile phone, exposing Fakir’s true identity.

Khan, 54, sustained multiple stab wounds and underwent a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital. He is currently recovering. Fakir has been remanded in police custody for five days, with authorities planning to recreate the crime scene soon.
