Six killed, 31 injured in Gas tanker explosion in Multan

MULTAN: At least six people were killed and 31 injured as a gas filled tankers exploded Industrial Estate area of Multan.

According to rescue officials, an explosion in an LPG bowser started a fire and the fragments of the bowser fell on the nearby population.

Rescue officials said that after several hours of struggle, the fire was extinguished, more than 10 vehicles took part in extinguishing the fire and foam was also used.

City Police Officer (CPO) Multan Sadiq Ali said that several houses were destroyed and animals were burnt to death in the gas bower explosion.

He said that gas is being released from the LPG bowser and the area has been evacuated. He confirmed that six people were killed and 31 injured in the bowser explosion while the condition of 13 injured is critical.

The police said that among the dead are three women and two men, including a girl.

On the other hand, the District Emergency Officer said that emergency has been declared Nishtar Hospital, search operation is going on in the neighboring villages.

According to the District Emergency Officer, electricity and gas supply were stopped in the accident and sides while Multan Muzaffargarh Road has now been opened for traffic.
