Punjab CTD arrests suicide bomber after encounter

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has arrested a suicide bomber after an alleged encounter on Barki Road, Lahore.

According to the CTD spokesman, the raid was conducted in the outskirts of Barki to arrest two terrorists on a tip -off. On seeing police, suspects started firing, a suicide terrorist was arrested in a cross firing while another escaped with injuries.

The spokesman said that a suicide jacket, safety fuse wire and ammunition were recovered from the arrested terrorists while a search operation was launched to search for the escaped terrorists.

According to the spokesman, the suicide terrorist was identified as Hafiz Shams, a resident of Balochistan and planned a major attack in Lahore.
