JAMSHORO: At least 16 passengers were killed and 25 others injured as passenger bus plunged into a ravine near the Bola Khan Police Station in District Jamshoro.

According to police officials, the tragic incident took place at the Tonic Police Check post at the junction of Balochistan and Jamshoro.

The more than 40 people from the Bheel community, who were traveling to Badin after the wheat harvest, were returning to the truck when the truck fell into the ravine.

The tragic incident occurred close to the Bola Khan police station that left over two dozen passengers injured.

Police confirmed that at least twelve bodies were recovered from the mishap site. However, four injured succumbed to their injuries at the Liaquat University Hospital in Jamshoro which pushed the death toll to 16, the hospital sources said.

Wheat sacks in the truck also fell, killing 16 people, including female children and injuring more than 25.

The Taluka Hospital in Bola Khan lacked medical facilities, where many people died due to lack of timely medical facilities, after which five injured children were taken to Civil Hospital Hyderabad where four children died while undergoing treatment.

The cause of the accident has not yet been officially confirmed, but an investigation is underway.
