THARPARKAR: The ongoing heatwave in Tharparkar has led to the death of 12 more peacocks, raising serious concerns about the impact of rising temperatures on local wildlife.

According to residents, the intense heat gripping the region is proving fatal for peacocks, particularly in the villages of Ajroi, Maghan Sand, Nebaro, and Bharau in the Nagarparkar area.

The total number of peacock deaths over the past eight days has reached 112.

The locals appealed to the wildlife authorities to take immediate measures to protect the vulnerable bird population from further losses.

Deputy Director of Poultry has stated that teams have visited four villages in Tehsil Mithi as part of emergency measures.
