FBR tax collection increases 30% MoM in April 2025

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Thursday said that tax collection increased by 30 percent on month-on-month basis in April 2025, compared to 28 percent in March 2025.

During April 2025, the board has crossed the entire annual target of Rs 9300 billion set for the previous year, said a news release.

The board also issued Rs 43 billion refunds while income tax collection increased by 44 percent, sale tax by 17 percent and federal excise duty by 31 percent.

Earlier,Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) unearthed massive sales tax fraud of around Rs. 315 billion in Iron and steel sector.

The Regional Tax Office-1 has made a big headway in investigation of a massive sales tax fraud of around Rs. 315 billion in Iron and steel sector.

The fraud has been done under the aegis of Platinum International and KH Sons by masterminds Owais Ismail and Farhad. The RTO 1 has arrested the accomplices Shahzad and Faisal who are brother and cousin of the above masterminds. Maroof ur Rehman, a major accomplice, in the fraud has also been arrested.

All the accused were presented before the Special Court of Customs, Taxation and Anti-smuggling today.
