QUETTA: In a significant development for healthcare in Baluchistan, the Institute of Kidney and Bladder Diseases (IKBD) in Quetta has officially launched a kidney transplant facility.

This initiative brings much-needed relief to patients suffering from kidney ailments within the province.

The announcement was made by Dr. Faheem Khan, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Kidney and Bladder Diseases, Government of Balochistan. He confirmed that the new facility will operate in strict accordance with the Human Organ Transplant Act.

Dr Faheem Khan highlighted the substantial impact this new service will have on local patients. In the past, patients from Balochistan were compelled to travel to other provinces for kidney transplants, often incurring expenses amounting to millions of rupees, he stated.

Now this life-saving facility is being provided completely free of cost right here in their own province, equipped with modern facilities and under the supervision of highly experienced doctors.
