KARACHI: The number of fatalities from traffic accidents in Karachi has reached a staggering 372 so far this year, according to rescue officials.

In the first 150 days of the year: heavy vehicles were involved in the deaths of 119 people, dumpers claimed 26 lives, trailers caused 46 deaths, water tankers were responsible for 26 fatalities, mazda trucks led to 10 deaths, and public buses claimed the lives of 11 people.

Rescue officials said among the deceased are 285 men, 40 women, and 47 children. The authorities continue to raise concerns over unchecked heavy traffic and poor road safety enforcement in the city.

Earlier, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested two terrorists belonging to a banned organization along with funds intended for the purchase of weapons.

According to details, the CTD conducted an intelligence-based operation and apprehended the two terrorists. Prohibited literature and money meant for the purchase of arms were also recovered from their possession.
