X (Twitter) is down once again in Pakistan and in other countries, shortly after recovering from a previous outage on Thursday and Friday. Trying to use the X app shows an error message saying “Cannot retrieve posts at this time.”

Yes, the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) has experienced multiple disruptions in Pakistan since February 2024. The most significant was a nationwide ban imposed around the time of the February 8 general elections, which the government attributed to national security concerns. This ban lasted for approximately nine months, with access being restored in late November 2024 .

Despite the restoration, users have continued to report intermittent outages and difficulties accessing the platform, even when using VPNs. These ongoing issues have raised concerns among digital rights activists and the public about freedom of expression and access to information in the country .

As of May 24, 2025, there have been no official statements from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) or the Ministry of Interior regarding the current status of X in Pakistan. Users experiencing access issues are advised to monitor official channels for updates.
