KARACHI: Acting Governor of Sindh, Awais Qadir Shah, has announced to appraoch court against Kamran Tessori for allegedly taking the keys of the Governor House with him.

Awais Qadir Shah said that a high-level meeting on Muharram security arrangements was scheduled today at the Governor House. However, staff informed him that Kamran Tessori had taken the keys to several Governor House offices upon leaving.

The Acting Governor stated, “This is a constitutional office, not a personal drawing room. Such behavior is unbecoming of Kamran Tessori.”

Awais Qadir Shah stated that police officials have already arrived at the Governor House, and the Interior Minister is also on his way from Islamabad. He warned that if today’s meeting cannot be held, he will take the matter to court against Kamran Tessori.

He further alleged that Kamran Tessori has previously taken the office keys abroad on multiple occasions. “If individuals holding constitutional offices begin to act in this manner, what message are we sending to others? Such a mindset is truly regrettable,” he added.

On the other hand, Governor House Spokesperson in Karachi clarified that Acting Governor Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, had a misunderstanding regarding the situation.

According to the spokesperson, senior officials including the Interior Secretary, Sindh Inspector General of Police, and DIGs of East, West, and South, along with officers from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch, were present in the conference room to attend the scheduled meeting.

The spokesperson further added that the office designated for the Acting Governor had already been prepared in advance. “If the intention was to use the main office, prior notice would have ensured the necessary arrangements,” the statement read.

In response to the controversy, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has directed the Principal Secretary to complete an inquiry into the matter within 24 hours.

Reaffirming openness, the statement concluded: “The Governor House remains open to the public. Awais Qadir Shah is respected both as Speaker and in his personal capacity,” Governor Tessori said.
