KARACHI: The 1295th annual Urs (death anniversary) of Sufi saint Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA) officially commenced today with Acting Sindh Governor Syed Owais Qadir Shah laying a traditional chaddar (sheet) at the shrine. The inaugural ceremony was held at the saint’s mausoleum.

During the event, Syed Owais Qadir Shah offered prayers and supplicated for the safety, progress, and stability of the country and its people.

He remarked that “the shrines of religious elders are a source of spiritual and mental peace.” He further added that the Sindh government is undertaking all possible measures to facilitate the pilgrims.

The three-day Urs festivities will continue from June 17 to June 19, with pilgrims from across the country arriving to participate.

The Sindh Auqaf Department has made special arrangements for the convenience of visitors, including cleanliness of the shrine, distribution of free meals and organizing Qawwali sessions (Mahfil-e-Samaa).
