US warns Iran of consequences for targeting Americans and bases

United Nations: The United States (US) has warned Iran that any attack targeting American citizens, military bases, or critical infrastructure would result in serious consequences.

Speaking at the United Nations Security Council, the US representative justified Israel’s recent strike on Iran, calling it a necessary act of self-defence. “We will continue efforts to ensure that Iran never acquires nuclear weapons,” the U.S. envoy stated.

The U.S. clarified that while it was informed in advance of the Israeli operation, it did not play any role in the attacks. The official urged Iran’s leadership to choose diplomacy, calling it the wise course of action at this critical juncture.

On the other hand, US President Donald Trump has once again urged Iran to agree to a nuclear deal, warning of severe consequences if it fails to do so.

In a message posted on social media, Trump said he had given Iran a 60-day ultimatum to finalize a deal, noting that June 13 marked the 61st day. “Iran came very close to an agreement,” he claimed, “but ultimately failed to reach one.”

Trump further warned that failure to strike a deal would lead to consequences worse than Iran could imagine. “I told them the United States produces the most devastating weapons on Earth — and provides them to Israel,” he stated, adding that “Israel knows how to use them.”
