Sydney: Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has taken a firm stand in support of Palestinians, refusing to give an interview to a media outlet that allegedly dismissed a journalist for speaking out in favor of Gaza.

According to Australian media, Khawaja declined to speak to the channel upon recognizing its microphone, citing solidarity with the sacked journalist. He politely apologized to the interviewing reporters before walking away.

Despite his protest, Cricket Australia has confirmed that no disciplinary action will be taken against Khawaja for his stance. His act has drawn widespread attention and praise for advocating free expression and human rights.

This incident follows the dismissal of renowned cricket journalist Peter Lalor by an Australian radio station. In February, Lalor had made statements on social media expressing support for the people of Gaza, which led to his termination. Usman Khawaja himself had previously voiced his support for Peter Lalor on social media, publicly criticizing the decision to fire him.
