KARACHI: A tragic road accident on the Karachi-Thatta National Highway claimed six lives and left more than 28 children and young people seriously injured on Sunday, when a tourist bus overturned near the shrine of Pir Muhammad Ali Shah.

The ill-fated bus was carrying residents of Karachi’s Orangi Town to Keenjhar Lake for a recreational trip when it met with the accident. According to rescue sources, the bus flipped suddenly, causing severe injuries to several passengers, mostly youngsters.

Rescue efforts were swift, with Sindh Emergency Service 1122 deploying six ambulances to the crash site. The injured were promptly transported to Civil Hospital Thatta for emergency medical treatment.

Officials from the Thatta district administration also reached the site and are actively assisting in rescue and recovery operations. The deceased have been identified as Asadullah, Arbab, Muhammad Rauf, Bashir, Ehsanullah, and Abrar Ali.

on the other hand in the khairpur The Gumbat National Highway became the scene of tragedy when a passenger coach, en route from Karachi to Swabi, overturned.

The accident, which occurred during rainfall, resulted in the deaths of Reema Gul and Abid Ali. Over 40 people sustained injuries, including Munir, Taj Bibi, Gada Hussain, Nabuwat, Shohaib Shah, and Farhan, all of whom are now receiving treatment at GIMS Hospital in Gumbat.

Police sources indicate that a combination of speeding in wet conditions and the driver’s attempt to avoid stray livestock on the road were likely factors in the crash. More than ten goats also perished in the incident.
